6TH ANNUAL MARDI GRAS BALL EXPANDS TO TWO NIGHTS

For the 6th year in a row, CEG Presents / NolaFunk.com – the New York-based event promoter that honors the musicians and spirit of New Orleans – will be bringing its annual Mardi Gras Ball to New York City, and for the first time, it will be a two-night event.

On February 18 & 19, New Orleans royalty Kermit Ruffins and his band the BBQ Swingers will make a rare appearance at the Hiro Ballroom on the weekend before Mardi Gras. Raised in the Ninth Ward and featured on the HBO series ‘Treme’, this trumpet player and composer embraces the true, swinging spirit of New Orleans.

Sharing the stage will be Bonerama. The New Orleans combo evokes vintage funk, rock and free jazz, often in the same song. In addition to originals and New Orleans traditional songs, the band performs brass-driven covers by artists ranging from The Grateful Dead to Black Sabbath.

On February 18, celebrated keyboardist Marco Benevento will be the special guest during Bonerama’s set. Outer Borough Brass Band will also appear, along with DJ Cochon de Lait.
