NEW DOUBLE ALBUM HAPPY BOOK OUT
MARCH 20

Jerry Joseph and The Jackmormons

For more than 30 years, Jerry Joseph has been strapping on a guitar and chasing down truth, understanding and soul with tenacity and resonant skill. Joseph is the archetypal musician’s musician – something that’s resoundingly clear on his sweeping new double album Happy Book, to be released March 20, 2012 on Response Records. Look for Joseph and his The Jackmormons to tour this spring in support of the album’s release. The list of currently confirmed tour dates is listed below – with many others still to be announced.

Produced by Joseph’s former Little Women band mate Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper), Happy Book is an emotional and sonic wallop fueled by the tightest, tastiest playing the Jackmormons have ever captured in the studio. “After 17 years, this album brings together a lot of things I’ve always wanted on a record,” explains Joseph. “This sounds like a band thats been together 17 years and has evolved along the way.”

Happy Book incorporates horns and other choice elements from guests – Jenny Conlee-Drizos and Chris Funk (The Decemberists), Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), Dan Eccles (Richmond Fontaine), Wally Ingram, Little Sue Weaver and Paul Brainard – into The Jackmormons’ tight-knit chemistry to create an expansive work that captures Josephs startlingly broad musical range in a roughly graceful, swiftly intoxicating way.

“DRY BONE VALLEY” IS FOLLOW-UP TO GRAMMY-NOMINATED
“CURL OF THE BURL” FROM BAND’S ACCLAIMED ALBUM THE HUNTER

    Mastodon

To create the video for their new single “Dry Bone Valley,” Atlanta rock icons Mastodon have teamed up with noted fine artist Tim Biskup, a long-time friend who has amassed a cadre of loyal fans and collectors of his painting and sculpture, which boast complex color and design theories and a decidedly populist aesthetic. This collaboration with Mastodon marks Biskup’s first foray into film/video work in nearly six years.

The “Dry Bone Valley” video is “basically about waking up to find yourself being chased by death and having to reckon with dying and what that actually means to you,” Biskup explains. “It’s a life/death metaphor where the girl in the video goes from hunted to hunter. There’s a whole lot more going on metaphorically, and the symbolism goes very deep and is very specific, but I’ll leave the rest up to interpretation.” Watch the new video below.

Mastodon and Talenthouse are giving fans a chance to design a “Dry Bone Valley” banner that will be featured on MastodonRocks.com and Facebook.com/Mastodon for a month. The winner will also receive a $1,000 prize, while two runners-up will get $500 and be featured in the band’s photo gallery as well. The designs will be chosen by fan votes, Mastodon, and Tim Biskup. Click here for more information.

“Dry Bone Valley” is the second single from Mastodon’s critically acclaimed album The Hunter. At present Mastodon are immersed in an extensive tour of Europe and Australia, which culminates in an appearance at the Soundwave Festival in March. The band is expected to tour the U.S. again this spring. Tour dates will be announced shortly.
