For more than 30 years, Jerry Joseph has been strapping on a guitar and chasing down truth, understanding and soul with tenacity and resonant skill. Joseph is the archetypal musician’s musician – something that’s resoundingly clear on his sweeping new double album Happy Book, to be released March 20, 2012 on Response Records. Look for Joseph and his The Jackmormons to tour this spring in support of the album’s release. The list of currently confirmed tour dates is listed below – with many others still to be announced.

Produced by Joseph’s former Little Women band mate Gregg Williams (Dandy Warhols, Blitzen Trapper), Happy Book is an emotional and sonic wallop fueled by the tightest, tastiest playing the Jackmormons have ever captured in the studio. “After 17 years, this album brings together a lot of things I’ve always wanted on a record,” explains Joseph. “This sounds like a band thats been together 17 years and has evolved along the way.”

Happy Book incorporates horns and other choice elements from guests – Jenny Conlee-Drizos and Chris Funk (The Decemberists), Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper), Dan Eccles (Richmond Fontaine), Wally Ingram, Little Sue Weaver and Paul Brainard – into The Jackmormons’ tight-knit chemistry to create an expansive work that captures Josephs startlingly broad musical range in a roughly graceful, swiftly intoxicating way.

    JAM LEGENDS HIT THE ROAD FOR ANNIVERSARY

    Legendary jam icons The Big Wu will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a performance at the Cabooze in Minneapolis, MN on Friday, February 10, where it all began. Doors open at 8:30pm, music starts at 9:30pm. Tickets are $10 available at www.cabooze.com and the show is 18+.

    The group says it will perform “two full sets packed with songs from our entire career. Something old, something you never heard us perform. Just like the way it has always been and will always be.”

    The band will then embark on an Anniversary Tour throughout the Midwest and into Colorado to celebrate with fans that have been with them through the entire 20-year journey.

    TOUR KICKS OFF IN KANSAS ON JANUARY 25th

    Head For The Hills

    Colorado quartet Head for the Hills has announced their 2012 Winter Tour, which takes them through the Midwest, Southeast, & the Mountain West. Head for the Hills will partner with Boulder, CO based non-profit, Conscious Alliance, for their 2012 Winter/Spring Tour. They will be offering a limited edition tour poster at all shows, with a portion of proceeds going to those in need.

    The tour kicks off at the Granada Theater in Lawrence, KS and takes the group through the Midwest, followed by the Southeast. February highlights see the group at Big Sky Big Grass in Big Sky, MT with Sam Bush, The Travelin McCourys, Emmitt Nershi Band, Greensky Bluegrass & more. Soon after a hometown performance at the Aggie Theatre in Ft. Collins, Head for the Hills joins The Travelin McCourys Featuring Keller Williams for a performance at the Boulder Theater. On April 20th, Head for the Hills visits the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO.

    The tour comes after the groups previously announced New Years Colorado Mountain run which visits the Sheridan Opera House in Telluride, CO on 12/30 & Warren Station Center for the Arts in Keystone, CO on 12/31 for New Years Eve.
