NEW ADDITIONS TO THE E STREET BAND ANNOUNCED

The expanded lineup for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band world tour will feature singers Cindy Mizelle and Curtis King, it has been announced. Trombonist Clark Gayton and trumpeter Curt Ramm, both of whom have toured with Bruce in the past, will also join the E Street Band on the road, along with newcomer Barry Danielian on trumpet. E Street stalwart Eddie Manion, also known as the “Kingfish”, and first time tour member Jake Clemons (Clarence Clemons’ nephew) will share the saxophone role.

    ONE ALBUM IN THE CAN, ANOTHER ON THE WAY

    Last week, it was reported that Neil Young is recording new music with Crazy Horse. As a follow-up, Rolling Stone has posted a video of Neil discussing the project.

    In the video, Young says he has already recorded one album with Crazy Horse entitled Americana, which he describes as having “a choir in it that sings with Crazy Horse. A very young choir of children. They’re songs we all know from kindergarten, but Crazy Horse has rearranged them, and they now belong to us.” The group is already working on the second record.

    Neil Young fan site Thrashers Wheat points to a 38-minute video posted on NeilYoung.com, which contains close-ups of recording gear while the band jams on “Fuckin Up” and “Cortez The Killer”. Head over to Neil’s website to check out the video.

    FIRST TOUR WITH FULL ORIGINAL LINEUP IN TWO DECADES

    The full, original lineup of Madchester icons Happy Mondays have announced they will reunite for the first time in over 19 years and set out on an 11 date UK tour in May, including a homecoming show at Manchester Arena.

    The reunion came about when original members Bez, Gary Whelan, Mark Day, Paul Davies, Paul Ryder, Rowetta and Shaun Ryder came together to discuss the idea.

    Says Ryder: “We all met up last week and some of the lads haven’t seen each other in over 10, 15 years. It’s as if we’ve never been apart so good to all be in the same room again. We can’t wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous.’

    Happy Mondays were first discovered by the legendary Tony Wilson in the infamous Hacienda club and have become synonymous with the Manchester music scene.

    Happy Mondays will be joined by special guests the newly reformed Inspiral Carpets.

    An impressive star-studded cast will come together to honor 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year honoree Paul McCartney during a sold-out gala on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles, two days prior to the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.

    Hosted by actor/comedian Eddie Izzard, artists set to perform are current GRAMMY nominees Tony Bennett, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Neil Young & Crazy Horse (in their first live performance since 2004), Norah Jones, James Taylor and more.
