CULTS NORTH AMERICAN TOUR STARTS MARCH 2 IN HOBOKEN, NJ

Cults

Cults, outfitted with some hypnotic visuals and a beefed up set list, will hit the road this March headlining over 30 dates across North America. The tour kicks off with a sold-out performance at Maxwell’s in Hoboken on March 2 and sees the band making a stop at SXSW, then heading west to play San Francisco and Los Angeles, before they head back east.

To reinvigorate followers in 2012, the band surreptitiously released a cover of Leonard Cohen‘s “Everybody Knows” for ‘Old Ideas with New friends,’ and made their television debut playing “Abducted” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Watch the Cohen clip below and go here to see the band on Fallon.

SOUL TRAIN CREATOR DEAD OF APPARENT SUICIDE

    Don Cornelius

According to USA Today, the pioneering creator of Soul Train Don Cornelius was found dead this morning in his Southern California home from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Cornelius was 75.

The African-American answer to American Bandstand, Cornelius landmark television music variety show premiered in 1971 and changed the national appreciation and awareness of soul music forever after. Cornelius wrote, produced and hosted Soul Train from 1971 to 1993. A streetwise poet of the highest order, Cornelius was rife with catchy expressions in his hosting, most memorably his weekly signoff: You can bet your last money, it’s all gonna be a stone gas, honey! I’m Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul.” We can think of no better wish for Cornelius in this time of his sudden passing.
