The Afghan Whigs are pleased to announce they will be performing at Terminal 5 in New York City on October 5 with special guests Eagles of Death Metal.

Tickets for this show will go on sale this Friday (April 27) at Noon and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.com or www.bowerypresents.com.

The Afghan Whigs (who have reunited after a 13 year hiatus) have announced 23 worldwide shows to date for 2012 including performances at Lollapalooza, ATP’s I’ll Be Your Mirror (London & NJ), Primavera Sound (Barcelona & Portugal) among numerous others. The New York City show is the first non-festival appearance going on sale in North America.

    RHETT MILLER SET TO RELEASE THE DREAMER JUNE 5;
    NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED

    Rhett Miller

    Rhett Miller has announced the release of his new album, The Dreamer, on June 5. The Dreamer was produced by Miller himself and will be released on his very own Maximum Sunshine Records, distributed by The Orchard. The album features guest appearances by singers Rosanne Cash and Rachael Yamagata, as well as additional percussion by Jerry Marotta (Peter Gabriel).

    The band on the record is Miller’s touring group, the Serial Lady Killers. This is the second release on his label, the first being 2011′s The Interpreter – Live at Largo. The first single from the record, “Out of Love,” is now available for download below.

    Says Milller, “I produced The Dreamer myself, a first for me, and had a very clear vision of what it should be — an intimate, rootsy record that would bridge the gap between my work with the Old 97′s and the solo albums I’ve made in the past. The Dreamer is all about simple American songs and instrumentation. It was a blast to make.”

    Rhett Miller will appear at SXSW this week, followed by a North American tour featuring both solo acoustic shows and shows with his band, Rhett Miller & The Serial Lady Killers.

    BAND’S TO PERFORM AT U.K.’S DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL;

    OZZY & FRIENDS TO PERFORM MAJORITY OF OTHER

    DATES

    Black Sabbath

    Black Sabbath –who late last year confirmed the recording of their first new album in more than 33 years and a worldwide headlining tour–have had to put some plans on hold due to Tony Iommi‘s battle with lymphoma. At this time, Black Sabbath will perform only one show of this summer’s previously scheduled European tour. It will take place Sunday, June 10 at the U.K.’s Download Festival.

    So as not to let the promoters and fans down, Ozzy Osbourne will now perform the majority of the previously scheduled Black Sabbath dates (both festival performances and the headlining shows) billed as Ozzy & Friends. These “first ever” Ozzy & Friends shows will feature appearances by “special guest” musicians including Geezer Butler (who will join Ozzy for a special Black Sabbath set as a show of respect and support to their friend, Tony Iommi) and longtime former Ozzy band member Zakk Wylde. In addition, Ozzy will be accompanied by longtime collaborator and friend Slash at select shows, with other “special guests” set to join the tour at various stops along the way (full list of dates, appearances below).

    Tony Iommi continues to make excellent progress and is looking forward to getting back out on the road. Meanwhile, Black Sabbath continue to write and record music in the U.K. for their upcoming album. More information about these dates and Black Sabbath’s recording and touring plans is forthcoming.

    In other Sabbath-related news, drummer Bill Ward has posted an update on his Facebook page regarding his status with the group and the ongoing contract negotiations.
